San Vicente teachers get special treat from students

Acting school principal Beatty Miller described the event as “very special.”

“We want to have a day to show the teachers they are being appreciated not only by the school administrators but by parents and students as well,” she said, adding that it was the first time the school held such an activity.

Last year, she said, students gave gifts to their teachers such as artwork and messages of appreciation.

This time, Miller said the student council served teachers with food and sat with them at the table in the school dining hall.

Teachers had their meal together with the parents, children, and other school staff members.

During the program, students from different grade levels offered appreciation messages to their teachers.

Parent and Teacher Association president Agnes M. McPhetres said the activity was a surprise for the teachers.

“The teachers didn’t know that they will have a special lunch with the children,” she said.

McPhetres was also thankful for the support of the parents and school administrators who ensured that this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week would honor teachers in a unique way.

She said parents helped supervise their children so the teacher could relax during the regular lunch time at school.

Miller said they held the program without disrupting classes for the day.
