The victim whose identity was withheld for the meantime was reportedly missing since Saturday afternoon.
Personnel of Bureau of Public Safety and Division of Marine Law Enforcement Office are now conducting a search and rescue operation of the victim.The victim who is said to be former employee of PPUC went spear fishing Saturday morning with two other men.The victim’s companion went to the boat and when they returned later they could not find the victim.The companions searched for the victim and when they failed to find him, they reported the incident to the police at 12:40 pm.Officers from Ngaremlengui sub-station responded and conducted a search operation.Marine Law Enforcement Office Chief Ellender Ngirameketii said that the search and rescue operation was cancelled at 5:30 pm on Sunday because of some water visibility problem.Lt. Aloysius Alonz of the Criminal Investigation Section in a separate interview said that the search operation is a combine effort of police and some members of the community, especially divers from Palau. The search is still going on he said and after five days if victim will not be found, he will be declared dead.
