The Senate last week rejected the appointment of businessman George Ngirarsaol to PPUC board. He did not obtain enough votes to get confirmed. Shallum Etpison’s appointment meanwhile was withdrawn upon the businessman’s request, President Johnson Toribiong said. Prior to the submission of Ngirarsaol and Etpison’s name, the Senate rejected the appointments of former Senator Surangel Whipps Sr. and former health minister Victor Yano to the PPUC board. After the two nominees were rejected, President Johnson Toribiong immediately nominated businessmen Etpison and Ngirarsaol to the board.Toribiong, when asked about the outcome of his nominations said that the rejection is all political. There is a vacancy in the board after the president accepted the resignations of two members of the PPUC board.
