Thai Fashion loses over $10K worth of goods to burglars

Bond Tannakan, owner of the Thai Fashion Shop at the Tiendasita Plaza on Beach Road in Chalan Piao said he received a call from the building owner at about 8 a.m. yesterday telling him to check his store.

“The owner informed me that my store was already open, and told me to check if something was wrong,” Tannakan told the Variety.

He said when he arrived, he saw empty shelves where 11 brand new laptops were previously displayed.

He also lost video cameras, digital cameras, PSPs, iPods, several pieces of computer mouse, and other electronic and computer products.

Tannakan said the burglars did not touch the cash register,  which still contained money, as well as the other boxes which contained other electronic products.

“They went straight to the shelves and sliced the glass where the expensive and brand new models of laptops were displayed,” he said.

Tannakan said the burglars passed through the ceiling and used a rope going down into the hallway of the building.

They then destroyed the padlock of Thai Fashion, but left the rope hanging from the ceiling when they exited from the back door.

Tannakan said this was his second time to be robbed.

He said the first time was about three years ago when his store was still at the Afetnas Building in San Antonio.

He lost over $6,000 worth of cash, jewelry, electronics, clothes and other goods.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric F. David said police are already investigating the case.

He said there could be more than one suspect involved.

“It would be hard for a lone perpetrator to cut a hole in the tin roof and go down using a rope alone,” David said.

DPS is  urging  community members who may have information about this case to call 664-9045/55 or the NMI Crime Stoppers Hotline 234-7272.

All calls are kept anonymous and no caller ID is used. A reward of up to $1,000 will be given for any information that leads to an arrest.
