THE officers and crewmembers of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Oliver Henry are on Saipan to implement community service projects.
On Saturday, the crew, led by Commanding Officer Lt. John M. Hamel, along with Marine Safety Detachment Saipan supervisor Lt. Khiem V. Nagy and CNMI Procurement Technical Assistance program manager Patrick McGlew, painted the parking stops at the Commonwealth Development Authority building in San Jose. Also assisting them was the CNMI Bureau of Military Affairs, which is under the Office of the Governor.
The USCG Cutter Oliver Henry is stationed on Guam.
“It’s good to see us working together, helping out the community and being part of the community,” Lt. Hamel said.
He said they are very thankful to the members of the island community for giving them the opportunity to serve.
For his part, CNMI Procurement Technical Assistance program manager Patrick McGlew said assisting the USCG Cutter Oliver Henry crew is part of building a close relationship between the Commonwealth and federal agencies.
“We are just very pleased to be here with them as we all look forward to a long relationship — we really appreciate what they are doing here,” he added.
