Group to host trail run for Tinian triathlete’s trip to Hawaii

The fundraiser event to be held on June 27 involves a race through the rugged trails of Carolinas Heights where participants will be confronted by sword grass in the jungle, according to Janet King one of the supporters of Manglona.

The registration fee will be $10 which includes carbo-loading dinner on June 26 and a chance to win Top 5 Finisher T-Shirt.

Headed by Jose Kiyoshi, the TASA that sanctioned fundraising sports event is in need of more volunteers. Those who are interested please call Joshua Manglona at 788-5934.

Those who wish to sponsor the Tinian triathlete may call Janet King at 483-1268.

The participants, King said are advised to wear long-sleeved running gear in case of allergies to the sword grass, and trail shoes.

Aside from raising fund, Manglona said the trail run is a good way to get the youth and the community to do something fun and healthy.

“I also arranged with TASA to help me fundraise for my upcoming trip to Maui in October for the 2009 XTERRA World Championship,” Manglona said, adding that his motto is “never give up.”
