“They are taking our customers. Their activity is very organized — they can penetrate hotels and prime tourist destinations,” he said.
Stocklots Saipan manager Ivan Lee, in a telephone interview, admitted they are operating a taxi business.
He said they transport passengers to and from hotels and the airport. “We want to help the government promote the tourism industry,” he said.
Lee said they have a business license but because the Department of Commerce has not approved their permit, “we have stopped our services.”
Variety learned the based on the job vacancy announcement lists of Labor, Stocklots Saipan, whose main office is in Chalan Laulau, is not operating a taxi business.
This month, the company is supposedly hiring a full-time sewing machine operator.
Lee said they also operate a small garment shop to produce the remaining merchandise left by a garment factory.
