CUKI and son Shane Alvarez, along with Corry Pangelinan, came out on top once again in their respective classes in round 2 of the 2022 Marianas Racing Association Points Race Series Sunday at Cowtown Raceway Park.
Cuki Alvarez, who is also MRA’s vice president, notched his second consecutive first-place finish in the Veterans class with 47 points.
In round 1 held last month, Alvarez had a dominant performance, finishing first in both heats for 50 points.
In round 2 on Sunday, he excelled as expected in heat 1, staying ahead with high jumps and clean turns to clinch first place for 25 points.
In heat 2, however, Dave Celis seized the spotlight as he tightened the throttle and sped past Cuki Alvarez to finish first.
Cuki Alvarez settled for second place in heat 2 but garnered a total of 47 points to finish first overall.
Celis, who came in third in heat 1, ended the day in overall second place with a total of 45 points.
Champi Villacanes followed behind in third place with 40 points; Melvin Cepeda was fourth with 38 points; and Ray Yumul was fifth with 30 points.
Expert Open
Shane Alvarez, for his part, earned his second consecutive first-place finish in the Expert Open class with 50 points, ahead of his father who came in second overall with 44 points.
In third was Shane’s brother Alverick Alvarez with 40 points. Ellery Cruz was fourth with 36 points while Dave Celis was fifth with 32 points.
Intermediate
in the Intermediate class, Corry Pangelinan scored 50 points to finish first overall once again.
In the battle for second place, Henry Camacho Jr.’s clutch finish in heat 2 allowed him to edge Tristan Sablan. Both had 42 points.
Byron Castro and Melvin Cepeda both had 34 points, but Castro was fourth overall because he finished ahead of Cepeda in heat 2.
