The objective of the Institution and the program is to develop the youth for future careers, nurture young leaders for the next generation, assist youths in special situations, provide training for educators, and to sponsor exchange programs for youths at the international and local communities.
These objectives are represented in the insignia of the Institution that symbolizes the letter “Y” for the youth. The colors of the insignia are blue for cooperation and pride, red for the energy and passions of youth, and green for nature. The Institution also provides training opportunities to teachers and youth organizations as well as sponsor grant schemes to private organizations that work towards the same objectives as the Institution.During their stay in Japan, the students will have the opportunity to:• Visit the National Diet Building in Tokyo;• Tour Tokyo Tower;• Attend a workshop regarding the environment;• Visit the Ueno Zoo;• Tour the National Museum of Nature and Science;• Visit Shoto Junior High School:• Participate in home stay program to experience family life in Japan. Also participating in the exchange program are students from the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI). This will give the students of GBH the opportunity to meet and exchange educational and cultural experiences with the students of Japan, FSM and RMI. This will also give the students from Palau the opportunity to teach their counterpart about the beautiful island of Palau. According to a parent of one of the participants, the students of GBH have prepared a presentation of Palau’s contemporary dance or Matematong to demonstrate a bit of Palauan culture.This exchange program is one of the many endorsed by the Hon. Yoshiro Mori, Former Prime Minister of Japan and current member of the Diet, Japan’s legislative body. The islands in this region have a special place the heart of Hon. Mori because of how well the islanders treated his father during World War II. Opportunities such as this exchange program further promote and strengthen the close and friendly ties between Japan and Palau.
