Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Islands’ Mike White in a statement said Guam’s men national team will take on Australia as the tips off at 1 p.m., of June 21, Sunday, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
This will be followed by women’s teams from New Caledonia and Australia before the host island’s women team will face its arch-rival, Guam at 5 p.m.
The CNMI men’s national team will face New Zealand after the opening ceremony scheduled at 7 p.m.
On Monday, the Guam women will play New Zealand and the Australian men will take on New Caledonia in daytime matches.
Evening will be between the CNMI women and New Caledonia, and the CNMI men and Guam.
Several teams will see double actions in the third day.
In the morning, the Guam women will play Australia, and the Australian men will play New Zealand in a possible medal-round preview at the Ada Gym.
At the same time, New Zealand women will face the CNMI, and the New Caledonia men will take on Guam at the Marianas High School Gym.
In the afternoon, New Caledonia will face Guam in women’s game, followed by the match betwee New Zealand and New Caledonia in men’s division.
In the evening, the Australian and New Zealand women tip off in another possible gold medal preview, while the CNMI men will take on Australia.
Players, coaches and referees will have a day off on Wednesday when the Oceania Basketball Congress will meet to elect new officers for the next four years.
New Zealand and New Caledonia in women’s division and Guam and New Zealand in men will meet as the tournament resumes Thursday afternoon.
In the evening, Australia will face the CNMI women, while New Caledonia will take on the CNMI in men’s division.
The finals start at 2 p.m., at the Ada Gym, with the women’s bronze medal game featuring the losers of the two women’s semi-finals. The men’s bronze medal game will follow at 4 p.m. In the evening, the women’s gold/silver matchup will take place at 6 p.m., between the winners of the two semi-finals, followed by the men’s gold/silver game at 8 p.m.
The medal presentation and closing ceremony will follow directly afterward.
