Ayuyu started the seventh inning with a single before Mel Sakisat’s single moved him to scoring position. Then, Sablan fired his own single to the center field and allowed Ayuyu to score the winning run against Kulan Zamu Gear, 1-0.
Settling for second and third place respectively, the Kulan Zamu Gear sluggers and the Jets who played five games secured wild card slots where they will play a single elimination round with four more teams.
It was Sablan’s third during the entire one-day tournament that made a difference as he drove Jerry Ayuyu in during decisive run of the seventh inning.
Most fly balls launched by sluggers of both teams landed in fielders’ hands making the third base as far as base runners could go during the straight six innings.
With Jess Iguel leading off a single and stealing second, the Kulan Zamu Gear sluggers had a total of six base hits but they sent the farthest runner only to second base.
Including a triple in the second inning of Game 5, John Terlaje had a total of nine base hits while Tyron Omar hit two triples and five singles.
In three games, Advance Xterminators’ Mel Sakisat had one triple and four singles and Oliver Schermidal one double and three singles.
Sakisat had only one strike out during the whole tournament.
In Game 7, Shine Tenorio, Frank Roberts and Pauline Camacho led the rally in the fifth inning lifting the Jets past Banzaii, 10-8.
Jack Diaz had two singles and scored three runs.
However, the equally exhausted Kulan Zamu Gear snatched the championship slot with John Terlaje driving in two runs with his sacrifice bat as he led the rally against the Jets in the first inning.
Tyron Omar tripled Jess Iguel in the fourth and Iguel hit a double before driving in two with sacrifice bat in the sixth inning.
