President Johnson Toribiong in an interview told reporters that the public funeral to honor the 26-year old Palauan Army Sergeant will be held at the Palau National Gym.
Obakrairur’s remains will arrive in Palau early morning of Tuesday, the funeral is scheduled at 8 a.m. that day too.Obakrairur, died June 1 in Nerkh, Afghanistan after a bomb detonated near his vehicle.Obakrairur was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd BrigadeCombat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.He was a former computer science student at the University of Hawai’i-Hilo and a native of Palau.The president said his office is also drafting a directive which will declare a day of mourning for the soldier.
