Maria ‘Malua” T. Peters, Head Start family and community partnership manager, said the three-day inter-agency networking conference is aimed at identifying available resources and services so they could effectively serve their clients.
This year, Peters said they are looking into the Child Care Program and the Medicaid, which are both dependent to federal assistance.
“The office is sometimes open then closes because of financial constraint,” she said.
The group agreed the Medicaid program should be improved.
Peters said the program currently has limited personnel who could immediately attend to the needs of the community.
She said they have to ensure the programs will not be duplicated so “proper coordination and collaboration is important” among all service providers.
Their group also wants to intensify information campaign to establish awareness in the community about education and health-related programs that can help them.
Public Health Maternal and Child Health Program Coordinator Margarita Torres Aldan said their goal is to help the community get better access for critical public services.
“We are working together to allow all service providers to extend their resources to their clients, ” she said.
