The CNMI All-Stars who earlier led Pool B with their victory over Hong Kong and Philippines are set to face Indonesia at 10 a.m., today.
However, the Philippines’ 11-1 loss to Indonesia eliminated CNMI even if they win today’s game.
The CNMI All-Stars committed three costly errors and left six base runners stranded.
Jeremy Lizama had two hits including an inside-the-park homerun and scored twice to lead CNMI during the losing effort.
Starting pitcher, Gayvan Uchau pitched two innings, gave up two hits, walked two and struck out one.
Keene Deleon Guerrero replaced Uchau in the mound and allowed six hits, walked none and struck out two.
CNMI loaded the bases in the bottom of the last inning as Jonathan Cabrera’s hard line drive to the warning track was a bit short of clearing the wall, then Guam’s leftfielder Jonathan Sablan catches it for the third and final out.
Guam celebrated the thrill of victory. Should the Philiipines victory over Indonesia and Hong Kong and CNMI win over Indonesia, there would be a three way tie.
The CNMI All-Stars so far only gave away nine runs while Guam issued 14 runs. But it was a head-to-head match where CNMI loses to Guam.
Guam now will wait for the winner in the match between Chinese Taipei and Korea at 3 p.m., today.
