NMBA membership committee chair, Hapi Gabriel said this is the second time they are holding the clinic for the youths. The first time which he said was held for free was attended by 40 children.
This year’s youth clinic which they started on June 27 and will conclude on July 19 requires $5 fee.
Still, he said 25 youth age seven to 18 years signed in to play.
Gabriel said they had to charge $5 fee this time because the new venue for the training at the Ren Center in Gualo Rai is no longer for free.
Last year’s clinic was held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
The objective of holding youty giving badminton youth summer clinic is to introduce the sports to the children.
A usually indoor sports, badminton, Gabriel said was proven to be among the effective way of keeping in shape among adults and maintaining physical fitness among people in all ages.
Badminton also prevents obesity among people, especially the youth.
The clinic is held Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Trainers include Hapi, Macoi Aguda, and Edwin Montoya.
