The target date of the installation will be Jan. 2010.
The Palau Public Utilities Corp. will maintain the solar system which will replace some of the airport’s electric generated power supply and help reduce its power consumption.Charles Obichang, director of the Bureau of Aviation, said the project will also help the Palau government boost its efforts to promote alternative energy.“Palau airport will be the first in the Pacific region to use alternative energy and we are grateful to Japan government for its assistance to make this project possible,” he said.
