Airport booth to make up for unused park meters

Commonwealth Ports Authority Executive Director, Efrain Camacho wants to make it “perfectly clear” that there is no new rule being implemented at the airport’s commuter terminal.

The commuter parking lot located at the left side of the airport building is supposed to be meter-controlled.

Each stall has a parking meter but CPA’s previous management failed to monitor the meters and collect the parking fees from the machines.

Since it will now be too complicated to fix the meters, Camacho said he decided that the most efficient way is to put up a booth, but this does not mean he is creating new rules.

He said there was  no waiver issued for parking fees in the area.

Fees have to be collected which was why there are parking meters in the area, he added.

“And I’m doing that now, collecting fees” he said, adding that he needs to make CPA as efficient and as accountable as possible.

CPA, he said, does not receive any money from the central government so it must generate its own revenue to cover its expenses.

When he saw the condition of the unused parking meters, he decided it had to be addressed.

The parking lot in front of the airport building alreadyhas a booth and individuals have to pay a dollar if they are going to stay beyond 15 minutes.
