Florine Hofschneider, the former principal of THS, is in the U.S., PSS Human Resources Director Charley Kenty said yesterday.
“We sent her to the United States to look for teacher for Tinian Elementary Schools in time for the school opening,” said Kenty.
He said Hofschneider is assigned to the office of Education Commissioner Rita A. Sablan.
Sablan is also currently off-island.
Acting Education Commissioner Peter J. Le’au could not be immediately reached for comment about Hofschneider’s supposed active recruitment of new teachers. Variety was told he was in a meeting.
Kenty declined to give more information about Hofschneider’s trip to the U.S.
Hofschneider reportedly retired after she was relieved as Tinian High School principal.
Six students allegedly failed by Hofschneider filed complaints against her.
