A retired educator, Aldan said about 90 percent of the households in Chalan Kanoa and Susupe that he visited “were very receptive” and shared their concerns with him.
“I talked about my plans and they agreed. They also talked about beautification which is in line with my platform of government,” he said.
Aldan said he emphasized to the community that as an independent candidate he will have the flexibility to represent them without any influence from any special interest groups, individuals or political parties.
He said his goal is to make Precinct 2 a better place to live in.
“We need to restore trust and give you, our people, a voice in your own government that you rightfully deserve,” he added.
To address education issues, Aldan said he will adopt the “personalized and individualized approach” and “maximize the resources of the youth in their involvement in community undertakings.”
He said he will establish a tutoring center for the children, help young adults finish high school, sponsor substance-abuse legislation and rehabilitation programs.
Aldan also promised to help create, organize and promote inter-village sports competitions, and secure public lands for additional learning centers and sports facilities to accommodate residents of As Lito, As Perdido, Fina ‘Sisu and Chalan Pi’ao.
Aldan would also like to address the high rate of suspension in public schools.
“The Board of Education is doing its best. We have the best commissioners for the past 15 years to the present but we need a community leader,” he said.
