Thomas Schubert, German Honorary Consul to Palau handed over the check to the members of the organization.
The money was through a grant from the German Embassy in Manila, Schubert said that the programs will be aired for a 12- month period and the health topics will include the alarming increase in the numbers of non-communicable diseases, causes and prevention of diabetes, importance of balanced diet, destructive power of tobacco , causes and prevention of hypertension, male health, alcohol related injuries and importance of physical activities.“The German Embassy is especially pleased, the this health awareness project falls right into line with President Toribiongs latest presidential degree; that recognizes the terrible thread, that modern lifestyle diseases pose to the people of Palau and his administrations ultimate goal is, to actively promote a healthier lifestyle in the Republic,” Schubert.He said Palau to qualify for the funding should benefit a sizeable group of people it should have the possibility of being completed within a few month and should include partnership contributions from an implementing organization in Palau.He said this grants are intended to directly improve the quality of life in the community.The organization is a chartered non-governmental organization and promotes healthy lifestyle and provide information on non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cancer and hypertension.
