Toribiong reminds Palauans to follow the law

The president told reporters that there are several Palauans staying in the U.S. which were deported due to crimes committed.

He said this reduces the privilege of Palauans to travel to the U.S. without a visa.“Traveling to the U.S. without a visa is a privilege and not a right. You lose the privilege when you do not follow the law,” he said.He said this is a serious matter that Palauans should consider. He said there are Palauans who committed crimes in the U.S. or here that can no longer travel to America.Toribiong also reminded the citizens to adhere to people to people diplomacy.He cited an incident where a Palauan citizen was sent back through Guam from the Philippines.It appears that the citizen was blacklisted from entering Philippine soil for assaulting a Filipino worker here.“Palau is now playing a role in the international arena. The world is a small place,” Toribiong said.He said that citizens should behave properly whether here or in a foreign land.
