Vergara leads Starwater to 7-game streak

Vergara bombarded the Migs with two-pointers and Dante Olivos chipped in six points including two of his four free throws in the third quarter and Starwater pulled away from the Migs all the way to the final buzzer enjoying a lead of 22 points.

With only Ron Gamboa and Olivos seeing much of the actions for Starwater in the first quarter, the Migs were leading by a wide margin as Jovie Arsenal invested in two-point shots and Melbert Dela Rama scored from a three-point territory.

Although Dela Rama continued to sizzle in three-pointers and fired nine markers in the second quarter, Starwater gained the upper ground as Vergara and Edwin Santos managed to respond to his moves, then widen the gap.

Ron Gamboa rampaged in the fourth quarter with 10 points while Vergara, Olivos and Edwin Santos continued their successful offense, and Starwater never looked back.

Starwater which has yet to taste a defeat will face on Wednesday, the Pacific Tracing Company-Miller Lite cagers who lambasted Tropical Laundry, 84-74 last Saturday.

Jaypers 68, Chinatown 67

Vonvon Tamayo fired three shots from behind the arc and the Jaypers snatched the victory out of Chinatown’s hands by one point.

Chinatown’s Roger Herrera and Cocoy Rotap duplicated Tamayo’s three-pointers in the fourth quarter but the lead the Jaypers have established in the third quarter was too much erase.

Chinatown was leading by four points in the beginning of the second quarter when Tamayo fired his second three-pointer while Noel Mateo and White Capalad added four points each for the Jaypers’ three-point lead in the end of the first half.

Tamayo fired two more consecutive three pointers pulling the Jaypers away from Chinatown in the beginning of the third quarter and Capalad chipped in six points.

With Rotap leading spree, Chinatown scored 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Capalad however protected the lead as he fired eight markers with his series of two point shots and the Jaypers finished of Chinatown, 68-67.

PTC 84, Tropical Laundry 74

Alex Lauron and Erlan Lansang led Pacific Trading Co./Miller Lite in the third quarter, Alvin Alvarez also sizzled in the fourth quarter for their 84-74 victory over Troplical Laundry.

PTC took over the lead in the third and never looked back.

Tropical Laundry was in a three-point advantage during half time but as the second half started, PTC started clamping on their offense.

With Lauron firing eight points and Lansang sinking six, PTC set the four-point lead in the third quarter.

Then, Alvarez picked up where Lauron left off helping PTC widen the gap in the fourth quarter leading to their victory.

In an attempt to catch up, Tropical Laundry’s Ron Delos Reyes scattered 39 points in the court including three triples and seven free throw shots.

Club Wonderful 75, Triple J 68

Mangali scored 24 points including his two three-point shots and Espeleta backed him up in zooming Club Wonderful past Triple J and claimed their 75-68 win.

Lansang helped Mangali protect the lead in the second quarter although Triple J’s Lawrence Buniag helped cut it into three.

Ong basketed eight more shots in the third to stretch the gap again and Mangali continued his surge while Espeleta added eight more points to secure the win.
