Letter to the Editor: Trash

The government should recycle them and make some extra revenue out of the factory garment scraps. Land owners should demand that the government clean up all the garment factory buildings left behind by the garment industry. The EPA should step in too and help land owners get some kind of needed help in removing all these garment buildings from our island of Saipan.

There is no point of seeing these buildings rotting on our island. We have to get rid of all eyesore trash on our island. These buildings don’t help our image — so much for the friendly environment or the beauty  of Saipan.

It doesn’t look good to see these building stand for no reason — so much for all the shovel-ready stimulus jobs. Please use the stimulus shovel-ready to put people to work and clean up the mess around our island.

This is not a reality check; this is a total reevaluation check on our island image.

All these abandoned buildings only bring back bad memories to all those who lost their jobs and of course all the labor abuses that came with the garment industry.

The biggest winners are the public officials with their sidepocket investors and their lawyers too while the poor garment workers were abused by all officials involved in this garment fiasco. It’s time to clean up the trash.
