After winning his second world championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina last Aug. 6, 10-year-old Macaranas is ready to swing in two Tournament of Champions—the Section Championship PGA Desert Tournament of Champions next week at Tahquitz Creek Golf Club and SCPGA Metro Series Tournament of Champions on Aug. 29 to 30 at Hemet Golf Club in Landmark.
Prior to the US Kids World Championship at Little River Golf Resort in Pinehurst, Macaranas won his first championship crown in the Junior World Championship.
He qualified for the two TOCs when he won first place at the Cherry Bowl Championship at Oak Valley Golf club on June 7, and third place at Rancho Mirage Country Club on June 23.
Right now, Macaranas continue to gear up for qualifying meets for the LA County Tournament of
Champions that will be held on Sept 12. He has to go over gold championships in Knollwood and and El Cariso.
Macaranas birdied five times as he shot 1-under par 71 during the final round of the US Kids World Championship.
Earlier in the first round, he had two birdies as he fired 3-over par 39 and went ever par 36 in the front and back nines respectively to finish 3-over par 75.
In the 349-yard Hole No. 17 Macaranas drove the ball down to the middle of the dogleg right par 5. Facing 135 yards for his second shot, he used a nine iron for birdie and sank the putt.
He sank four birdies in the second round and shot 3-over par 75. With two birdies one of which a 15-foot birdie in the 395 yards Hole No. 3, Macaranas went even par 36 in the front nine.
Meanwhile, Macaranas wants to promote his brand to help fund these world championships.
