Letter to the Editor: Improved status

While we, a local organization, strive daily to correct the mistakes of our leaders past and present, the foreign guest workers and their organizations only concentrate on one thing, getting U.S. citizenship.

We are faced with an economic crisis, budget deficits, unemployment, exorbitant utility rates, no doctors at CHC, a Retirement Fund nearing bankruptcy, and it’s the political season already, and still they concentrate on one thing.

They call this there home, but their actions speak louder than their plight.

As for the Honorable Congressman Nick Rahall, he and his committee are just a small part of the U.S. Congress which has over 500 members, a majority of whom do not support national immigration reform.

We do agree that we have a broken and corrupted immigration system but we disagree in the fast tracking of U.S. Public Law 110-229, and seeing Congresswoman Donna Christensen coming back the second time, telling us that she was backpedaling on legislation they pushed forward without fully understanding the consequences that have damaged our economy and created more uncertainties..

Immigration reform is a major debate in the United States and it is our hope that our homeland is not used for their political agenda again. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Sablan’s agenda is obvious for he is now a member of the Latino Cacaus representing over 12 million illegal aliens in the U.S.

In our view OVERSTAYING is the same thing as being illegal in our homeland.
