Allen Stayman, the senior staff member of the committee in-charge of insular affairs, and Isaac Edwards, U.S. Senate legislative director, are also scheduled to attend an energy-related conference while on island.
Stayman, the former director of the Office of Insular Affairs, is also scheduled to meet with different local groups to discuss the federalization of the local immigration system starting Nov. 28.
Saipan Independent Rep. Tina Sablan said she wants to discuss with Stayman the possibility of granting long-term migrant workers an improved immigration status, as well as the case of the spouses of Freely Associated State citizens.
Sablan is also interested in discussing with Stayman issues regarding alternative energy.
