Saipal, Saipan’s own team in the seventh annual event relinquished its title to Team Guam in an extra game during the 6th Annual Marianas Cup Friendship Tournament held on Rota last year.
This year’s Miller Lite softball event will go in a double elimination series.
Like in the past, teams from Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam will battle it out one more time.
Miller Lite’s Glenn Hunter in an email said the tourney will feature the best-of-the-best of the participating islands, which will make the event exciting to watch.
Possibly, the tournament will consist of seven games. All games will be played on Saturday starting with an official draw among the four teams.
In a spirit of promoting friendship, good sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the Marianas neighbors, a women’s exhibition game will also take place as part of the tournament series.
Team Sakudi which won the championship in the recently held women’s softball league will face Guam’s Miller Brewers.
