A cordial discussion began regarding several issues, concerning the U.S. government’s role in the FSM and Yap.
Anefal reiterated the long-standing goal of the state in having more foreign investments, particularly in tourism development and other sustainable business development investments.
Hughes indicated that after her return to the U.S., she would keep Yap’s interest in mind.
She had a full schedule of appointments with ranking government officials, including the speaker and members of the legislature, the chief justice, the chairmen of the Councils of Pilung and Tamol, and some cabinet members.
She was also scheduled to meet with the U.S. citizens residing or working in Yap.
At a farewell function hosted by the state leadership, Anefal thanked the ambassador on behalf of the government and the people of Yap for her assistance over the past two years as America’s envoy to the FSM, and for this visit to bid farewell to the state and her people.
This was echoed by Speaker Charles Chieng, who wished her all the best in her future endeavors.
