TTM donates 250 lbs. of potatoes to MOE

According to Richard Hung, TTM specialists, the potatoes were harvested at the mission’s farm in Nekken, Aimeliik.  Further, the donation was made as part of an on-going effort by TTM and the government of Palau to encourage and improve development of farming and utilization of local goods and products. 

The Director of Education, Emery Wenty, accepted the donation.“We are very grateful of not only the donation of sweet potatoes, but also the previous donations of fruits, vegetables, and taro that TTM has given to MOE,” he said.Wenty said that the donation will be distributed accordingly to the schools to help supplement the student lunch program.TTM has, over the years, made similar donations of taro, fruits, and vegetables to MOE Food Service Program.  Moreover, the TTM continues to send its experts to various schools to assist in the development of school farms as well as conduct presentations on sustainable management of small farms.Hung said that TTM will continue to provide assistance and technical expertise to the schools, groups, organizations and individuals in hope that Palau will be able maintain its sustainable production and management of its food resources effectively.
