Karn Ebert was also charged with mayhem and trespassing for entering premises and assaulted three persons on July 25.
Ebert’s co-defendants Elfin Ngeltengat and Lafayette Lucky were also charged with trespassing and riot.The three defendants appeared on August 18 and entered a not guilty plea to their charges.They are set to appear in court today for status conference hearing.A court document stated that Ebert, Ngeltengat and Lucky and three unidentified men entered the property of Gregorio Decherong and were chasing a certain Dustin Darius.Decherong and other family members were having a barbecue at that time when the drunk defendants came and hurled invectives at the victims.Decherong tried to calm things down but Ebert punched him in the right eye. The victim fell to the ground.Then Ebert grabbed Happy Ngirakesau’s shirt and threw him into a ditch breaking his leg.Ngirakesau’s nephew Semdiu Decherong tried to separate Ebert from his uncle but was pushed back by the defendant and was punched in the head, ribs and shoulder.The court document stated that while Ebert assaulted the victims, Ngeltengat and Lucky proceeded to chase Darius and threatened to assault him.Darius managed to run away from the defendants.
