In criminal case 09-168, Officer Marsei Orrukem was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and drunk and disorderly conduct while in criminal case 09-173, he was charged with aiding and abetting assault and battery with dangerous weapon, assault and battery and drunk and disorderly conduct.
Orrukem appeared in court yesterday to face his charges.The affidavit of probable cause submitted to court stated that there were two separate incidents of assault and battery involving Orrukem.The affidavits stated that Orrukem assaulted two individuals in two separate occasions.The first incident occurred on July 17 near the BM store in Ngerchemai.The document stated that the victim was on his way home when Orrukem who was then driving a vehicle stopped and got out of the car and approached him.The cop asked the victim who threw a rock at a police car earlier. The cop then punched the victim in the eye.The affidavit stated that there were two other men who got out from the cop’s car. One of them was a juvenile and was armed with a knife.The juvenile stabbed the victim on the left side of the back.The document further stated that Orrukem and his companions were drinking earlier and were driving around when they spotted the victim.The second incident occurred sometime July 31 to August 1 at the Sunset park restaurant in Meketii.The victim was at the restroom of the restaurant when Orrukem struck him with a hard object from behind.The document stated that Orrukem admitted of going to the Sunset bar and got very drunk. He doesn’t remember anything and passed out.Orrukem was arrested on August 11.
