Around the Islands: Weather advisory

This intensifying system was the subject of a tropical cyclone formation alert and could become a tropical depression during the next 12 to 24 hours.

But no watches or warning were in effect for the Northern Marianas.

This tropical disturbance had been moving westward around 10 mph during the past day or so.

Continued movement at this speed would bring this system to the vicinity of the Marianas on Wednesday.

The scattered showers forecast to affect Rota were not associated with this disturbance, but were being caused by a separate and weaker system located 385 miles southeast of the island.

This system was expected to move west of the Marianas by Monday evening.
