NMIFA to hold refs’ training

The first two days of the training will be in classroom at the NMIFA office located at 3rd floor of TSL Plaza, Beach Road, Garapan.  Classes will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On-field training will start in the afternoon of Sept. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. of Sept. 19.  The basic referee training will be free except for the copies of laws of the game which will be available for $10.NMIFA referee chairman, Dean Tenorio noted that elementary schools and football clubs will be starting their interscholastic and youth leagues in just a few weeks, and the training will make sure there will be enough officials for the games. “A well-trained official helps keep the game fair, and can help educate younger players on the Laws of the Game.  We invite every school and club to send someone for training,” he said.Anyone age 14 and older who is interested to learn the Laws of the Game is invited to attend. Certification will allow attendees to referee in youth games, and with added experience, then referee higher levels including high school, women’s and men’s leagues.  Interscholastic coaches and school referees are encouraged to attend. To register, contact NMIFA director of referees, Vanesa Pritchard at holly_jollyvkp@hotmail, NMIFA referee chairman Dean Tenorio at deanten@gmail, or call the NMIFA Office at 234-01743.
