Special weather advisory

But the large scale monsoon rainband that was expected to affect the Marianas had moved away farther to west into the Philippine Sea, north of Palau and Yap.

This will lessen the chance for a prolonged rain event across the Marianas.

While periods of heavy rain remain possible during this week, rainfall accumulation should not greatly exceed what would be normal for this time of year in the Western Pacific.

The heavy rains anticipated could still cause flooding. However, breaks in the rainfall should be long enough to allow any flooding that occurs to abate.

The general public, especially motorists and residents in low-lying prone areas, should take precautionary measures for ponds of water on roadways, poor drainages and possible debris on the roadways.
