Paving of Chalan Kiya sewer project site ongoing

RNV Construction started laying asphalt at the W-6 sewer lift station elimination project site in Chalan Kiya on Monday.

The paving will continue today, Tuesday, Variety learned.

Last week, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation said the paving would be completed by the end of March 2022.

The sewer project had been substantially completed and the remaining item was the asphalt restoration, CUC added.

The W-6 sewer lift station elimination project cost $1.26 million in 2020 and was funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Construction started on March 26, 2020 and was scheduled for completion by Dec. 30, 2020. The turnaround time was pushed back to October 2021, and then to February 2022.

A resident who requested anonymity told Variety that with the paving of the project site, “hopefully the traffic congestion in the area will end soon.”
