VIZION and MDC continue to climb the ranks in the open division of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club Basketball League after defeating their respective opponents Friday at the TSL Sports Complex.
Vizion pulled a late-game rally to defeat HBR 78-73.
It was a seesaw battle, but thanks to Pastrana, Baul and Mortos who contributed six points each, Vizion took a 21-15 lead.
However, in the second quarter, HBR suddenly heated up, especially behind the three-point line as Antonio drained two consecutive triples while Rutab and Gotengco contributed one each and the rest of the team attacked the rim to snatch the lead, 43-34.
HBR tried to maintain control but eventually lost touch due to Vizion’s continuous harassment on the defensive end. With each successful stop, Mortos capitalized with back-to-back finishes on the transition play, scoring 10 points to end the third canto in a tie, 57-57.
HBR managed to nearly silence Mortos in the final quarter, but Vizion’s Rueda and Pastrana took over to deliver a total of 14 points during the final few possessions of the game as Vizion secured the win, 78-73.
MDC vs Super Tech
MDC joined the winner’s circle as they barely broke a sweat in trouncing Super Tech 100-50.
After earning a double-digit lead in the first quarter, MDC never looked back. Super Tech, for their part, never found their rhythm.
