More hoops champs join Budweiser caging

The HANMI team’s playing coach Ray Lizama has expressed his interest in forming a team from Hyatt Regency to play in the annual Budweiser caging, according to Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Islands.

Following BANMI board member, Abner Venus’ call on all leagues’ reigning champions to join the Budweiser league that will also become the selection ground for the national team, Hyatt is the second basketball team champions who expressed interest in joining the annual league.

Hyatt basketball team is the reigning champion of the Tinian Dynasty Invitational Budweiser Basketball Tournament and is currently participating in the IT&E InterGovernment $ Business Basketball League with 3-0 record.

The United Filipino Organization Basketball League champion, Chow King was the first team to come forward.

Hyatt’s Lizama said they support the Budweiser basketball league formerly known as Budweiser Cup.

“We now have two champion teams who think that they have what it takes to be a champion by joining the premier league in the CNMI,” Venus said.

The BANMI board member added that they are still inviting more reigning teams from different leagues.

“Only real champions join the Budweiser League,” he said.
