I disagree with this idea even if it is law.
Do you think DPS have the time and money, let alone resources to do so?
The mayor’s office should be the one to handle it. They have the trailers, gloves, square shovels, large trashbag, etc. You know the whole nine yards to do the work. Not DPS.
Whose office need money to build a kennel?
What makes them think that DPS can find a suitable place to hold stray dogs?
Actually, it’s the Division of Agriculture that has to be be dealing with animals dead or alive. An animal control program should be established within the division. Plus, they have a vetenerian there.
That’s where the kennel should be and if the dog population escalates, then adoption is the next thing.
If that doesn’t work then the only thing is to euthanize the dog.
Half of the fault lies with the owners who loosely tie their pets and they run away or sometimes owners can no longer care for them so they drop them off miles away.
I hate to say that but there’s no other solution for the time being.
It is what it is right now.
For the time being the mayor’s office just can’t point fingers at other agencies when it’s not their line of work. It’s like telling an accountant to fix CUC. Thanks for your time.
