House Local Bill 16-42l, introduced by Rep. Edwin P. Aldan, Covenant-Tinian, becomes Tinian Local Law 16-12.
This law sets aside $41,500 of local license fees collected from pachinko slot and poker machines for Tinian.
Of the amount, $30,000 goes to the Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguiguan; $10,000 is allocated for the monthly subsistence allowance of patients from Tinian traveling to Saipan for dialysis, multiple sclerosis and cancer treatment, post-cervical and vascular accidents; and $1,500 for the Tinian Athletic Sports Association.
The mayor of Tinian is the expenditure authority for the $30,000. No specific projects were mentioned in the new law for the amount appropriated.
The subsistence allowance will be disbursed by the Department of Finance at $2,000 each month until the total appropriation is expended.
Separately, the governor signed House Local Bill 16-43, now Tinian Local Law 16-11, which Aldan also sponsored.
“There is hereby appropriated the sum of $110,000 from the developer infrastructure tax collected in the second senatorial district to the Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguiguan for infrastructure development including road development, street lighting, electrical distribution, water and sewer development,” the new law states.
The Tinian mayor is the authorized expenditure authority for this appropriation law.
