She said the schools are ready to welcome the students and have already cleaned and prepared their facilities.
“There seems to be a sense of readiness at all the schools,” Sablan said, after visiting Koblerville Elementary School on Monday.
On the first day of classes, about 15 school buses will be deployed on Saipan at 6:30 a.m. to transport all students to their schools, she said.
Last week, Sablan said the orientation and school leadership meeting were very successful and no major concern was raised by the teachers and school administrators.
On Aug. 31, Public School System principal, teachers and counselors attended Reporting Day to discuss their preparations for the school opening.
Sablan said she will devote this entire week to an “interactive site visit” to all public schools.
She will make sure if schools are taking care of what they have to take care for the opening of classes, she added.
Sablan said PSS is not implementing a new policy that will affect the opening of schools, although there are recent rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Education that have yet to be disseminated to the schools.
But these will neither hamper nor delay the opening of the school year, she said.
Regarding the precautionary measures against H1N1, she said PSS is always coordinating with the Department of Public Health in the ongoing campaign against the spread of the virus.
PSS is giving out and posting leaflets and brochures on how to prevent and to detect the H1N1 virus.
Sablan said school administration will advise students showing symptoms of the virus to stay home.
