SSHS routs Da’ok Academy 36-6 in boys basketball

THE Saipan Southern High School Manta Rays earned their first win in the 2021-2022 season of the IT&E Interscholastic Boys High School Basketball League by defanging the Da’ok Academy Sharks 36-6 on Wednesday at the Marianas High School gym.

After a very tough loss against Kagman High School in the previous week, the Manta Rays wanted to make sure they showcased what they were really made of.

In the opening half,  SSHS’ Frankie Satur found his rhythm early as he scored the first two buckets for his team.

The rest of the team then started to chip in with Darien Quitugua, Theron Factor and Aaron Magno adding 14 points to SSHS’ output.

Da’ok Academy, for its part, had only Mark Castro who split the free-throw attempt for one point.

In the second half, the Sharks started to find their groove. Jesse Pua’s confidence grew as he scored four points, but  the rest of the team failed to contribute.

As for SSHS, the Manta Rays remained productive with more offensive highlights. Satur suddenly found his range from beyond the arc, sinking two consecutive triples. Rasg Asauo delivered a three-pointer of his own while Floyd Muna, Eli Garcia and Reid Teregeyo provided additional buckets to finish off the Sharks, 36-6.
