38 new US citizens sworn in

MAGISTRATE Judge Heather Kennedy of the District Court for the NMI administered the oath to  38 new Americans on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.

The court held two naturalizations ceremonies: one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The new U.S. citizens who were sworn in Tuesday morning were Miguel Cecilio Arrozal, Jimmy Orozco Blancia, Ricardo Atanacio Dela Rosa Jr., Arlene Nelvis Deleon Guerrero, Brier Rose Pulido Domingo, Mario Romualdo Domingo, Nelson Lara Frani, Urbano Guico Gabot, Jeannette Bautista Keremius, Lilibeth Antonio Manimtim, Jesusa Cabigting Maratita, Marites Castillo Matson, Maria Paz Caamic Meister, Perla Corazon Pillado Militante, Ramonito Sydeco Militante, Freda Tambiac Rabauliman, Minsook Rastguiy, Carmelito Sebastian Santos, Thongpan Tom-Iam Santos, Jessie Jojo Ramos Savellano Sr., and Merlita Dela Rosa Savellano.

In the afternoon session, the following new U.S. citizens were sworn in: Rene Lacson Ascano, Maria Corazon Malicdem Borja, Antonio JR Alon Bornilla, Victoria Kim Flores, Lito Segaya Gabio, Reynaldo Musni Guevarra, Gina De Leon Iglesias, Lowisito Sangalang Iglesias, Mark Anthony Binondo Liban, Jerico Libre Lopez, Claire Ann Luna Maratita, Anita Fermin Pagulayan, Alejandro Banez Prado, Rowena Canlas Relado, Ricardo Elago Salem, Maria Liberty Piloto Untalalan, and Rone Allen Alqueza Villa.

It was Patricia Phelan, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officer, who made the motion in federal court to accept the applicants as new citizens.

Magistrate Judge Kennedy granted the motion  and welcomed the new U.S. citizens to the American family.

The guest speaker for the ceremonies, which also honored  Martin Luther King Jr. Day, was District Court for the NMI law clerk Gretchen A. Smith.
