KoES wins 5 games a row in co-ed volleyball

KOBLERVILLE Elementary School 1 is off to a strong start in the Public School System Elementary Co-ed Volleyball Tournament, notching five straight victories  Saturday at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School field.

The KoES 1 players are Ailana Mendiola, Elika Mendiola, Aiden Gimed, Kyler Laniyo, Elerie Del Rosario, Shioni Odoshi, Vince Eusebio, Worthy Defang, Elyza Brillo and Keaura Kaipat.

In their first two matches, they outplayed William S. Reyes School 21-11 and routed Saipan International School 1, 21-7.

They then scored their third win by  besting WSR 1, 21-9.

KoES 1’s toughest match was against their sister team, KoES 2. The back and forth action went on from start to finish. However in the last few possessions, KoES 1 stepped up with clutch returns to secure their fourth straight win, 24-22. Their fifth and final win of the day was against SIS 1, 15-4.

Another strong team was Kagman Elementary School 1 which won four games.

Led by Stanley Iakopo, who excelled in serving the ball, KagES 1’s first match was against SIS 1 which went down in defeat, 12-21.

KagES1 then crushed KoES 2, 21-3, before outscoring WSR 1, 21-14, and outlasting WSR 2, 18-16.

A total of seven teams played a total of 18 games on Saturday.

 PSS Athletics Program Director Nick Gross said Oleai and Garapan elementary schools  were not able to participate, but he expects more teams  to  join the tournament next week.
