THE Air Ballers emerged victorious in the consolation game of the women’s division in the 2025 Allied Pacific Environmental Consulting Basketball League, claiming third place after easing past MP Raiders, 35–28, on Monday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The Air Ballers asserted their dominance early, delivering a suffocating defensive performance that held the MP Raiders to just five points in the entire first half. On offense, they relied on crisp ball movement, with every player on the court contributing to the early surge. Sylvina Simram, Madi Alegre, and Wilani Sikyang ignited the scoring with the first three buckets, while Quina Flores and Irish Pagarao each added four points to build a commanding 14–5 lead heading into the break.
Despite the slow start, the MP Raiders came to life in the second half with a renewed sense of urgency. Destiny Pangelinan sparked a rally with back-to-back three-pointers, followed by strong finishes at the rim from Jieun Kwon and Valerie Estella to narrow the gap.
However, while the Raiders found success on the offensive end, their defense struggled to contain the Air Ballers’ relentless attacks. Pagarao continued to slice through the lanes for consecutive layups, and Flores added timely baskets to keep the Raiders at bay. Friendly Joy Pena and Laurina Sebaklim later joined in with clutch scores down the stretch, sealing the 35–28 win and securing the third-place finish for the Air Ballers.
U18 boys division
In the U18 boys division, Rollers 2 emerged triumphant in a nail-biting showdown against Kada Dia, edging out a 47–45 win to take third place.
Rollers 2 took control early, displaying excellent team chemistry and fluid ball movement. Carl Enriquez opened the scoring with a three-pointer, followed by buckets from Matthew Peters, Heman Addy, and Jared Villagomez to establish a 21–14 lead by halftime.
Kada Dia fought back with grit and determination. Logan Daniel battled in the paint, drawing fouls and converting at the line, while Evan Cabrera stepped up as a secondary scoring threat. Still, their efforts weren’t enough to close the gap in the first half.
The momentum shifted in the second half as Kada Dia picked up the pace. With key contributions from James Matsumoto, Peyton Basa, and Keanu Silva, they rallied to chip away at the deficit and eventually tied the game.
In the closing minutes, Rollers 2 kept their composure. Addy led the charge early in the half, while Enriquez and Peters delivered in the clutch, each sinking a crucial basket to push Rollers 2 ahead. Steady under pressure, they pulled off a 47–45 victory to clinch third place in the U18 boys division.
