To break the deadlock, Rep. Angel Demapan withdrew from the race Tuesday. Fellow Republican Ivan Blanco was then nominated for speaker. In a roll-call vote, Independent Rep. Edmund Villagomez defeated Blanco 11-9. Republican Rep. Ralph Yumul voted for Villagomez. Republican Rep. BJ Attao was elected vice speaker unanimously. For the floor leader’s position, the candidates were Yumul and Demapan. Yumul won 11-9. More details to follow.
