TO help raise funds for its community and humanitarian services in the CNMI, the Saipan Unity Lions Club or SULC will hold its year-end bike race on Nov. 28, 2021.
SULC president Yolanda Villavicencio said it will be their second bike event for the year.
“This is usually an annual event but because of popular demand, we are doing a second race this year. The first one was held in April,” she added.
She said the money they race through bike races and other fundraising activities allows SULC to distribute food and supplies during disasters, provide medical assistance, gifts to children during the holidays, and school supplies to young students.
The club has also built a bus stop and repaired and renovated bus stops in Tanapag, she added.

The deadline for registration is on Nov. 24, SULC marketing and communications chair Bong Martinez said.
The online registration fee is $20, plus $1 processing fee via PayPal. All registrants will get free t-shirts. The first 50 registrants will also get free cycling glasses, Mendoza said.
The bike race will feature two courses for men and women: the Long Course (Banzai/Mobil/1-Million Gallon Water Tank Turn Around/Suicide Cliff/Bird Island/Banzai); and the Easy Course (Banzai/Mobil/Banzai).
Both courses have mountain bike and road bike categories.
“All health and safety protocols approved by the Covid-19 Task Force for this bike race event will be implemented — masks and hand sanitizers will be provided,” Mendoza said.
