THE Department of Public Safety has launched a homicide investigation on Tataga Street in San Antonio after a woman was found dead inside a residence Saturday afternoon.
Investigators have noted signs of foul play.
Variety also learned that the woman, who was in her 70s, was a regular volunteer at the San Antonio Church.
Police Lt. Catherine Pangelinan and other investigators were seen Sunday speaking with and interviewing neighbors of the deceased.
In an official statement issued Sunday afternoon, DPS said at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, officers responded to a residence in the village of San Antonio following a call for assistance.
“Upon arrival, they discovered an elderly woman who had passed away,” said DPS public information officer Adrian Pangelinan.
“Family members reported that they last spoke with her a few days ago. Earlier that day [July 26], they checked in on her but believed she was still resting, so they planned to return later. When they returned to check on her again, they found her unresponsive and immediately contacted the authorities,” Pangelinan added.
The victim was transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, where she was pronounced dead at 7:25 p.m.
Pangelinan said, “The police department is actively investigating this incident as a homicide and is reaching out to the public for assistance.”
