FLOR Jones has joined the list of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s top golfers after notching a net score of 69 on Saturday to top its December tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course.
Jones did not have a leisurely stroll to the title as she had a bumpy start on the front nine of the course. She completed the first four holes with five strokes each and then struggled even more on holes #5 and #6 with a bogey and a double bogey. Fortunately, she was able to adjust her swing and improve her game with a par on hole #7 to end with a gross score of 46.
Jones’ transition to the back nine was a bit tough as well but she still managed to stay ahead of most players with a gross score of 45.
Although her gross total was 91, her handicap of 22 gave her a net score of 69 — and first place.
Finishing second was Sherlyn Jones who closed the front nine with a gross of 43 which was followed by an improved score of 42 on the back for a total gross of 85. With a handicap of 12, she ended up with a net score of 73.
In third place was Yuko Togawa who shot a gross of 41 on the front nine and 37 on the back for a gross total of 78. Her 2 handicap gave her a net score of 76.
Sunny Hyun was fourth with a net score of 79. She edged Lou Kim, who also had a net score of 79, in the scorecard tie-breaker.
