Peter “Dung” Tenorio
PETER “Dung” Tenorio captured the Amigos Golf Club’s July Ace of the Month title after shooting a two-day net score of 140 during the Ace round at the east course of the LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort on Sunday.
The Ace round was played under less-than-ideal conditions, with heavy showers throughout the day, but that didn’t stop Tenorio from putting on a show.
Tenorio was on a roll, clearing the course with a gross score of 76 and dominating the optional play by earning three Closest to the Pin awards. He maintained a steady swing throughout the tournament, also carding a gross 76 during the qualifying round on July 7.
Although Tenorio played with a handicap of just 6, he finished with a two-day net score of 140 to clinch the July Ace of the Month title.
Jay Muna was Tenorio’s biggest challenger.
Muna started strong, shooting a gross 73 in the qualifying round, but struggled in the rainy Ace round, carding an 80. Also sporting a 6 handicap, he fell just short with a two-day net score of 141 and had to settle for second place.
In the optional play, Tenorio led the Closest to the Pin list for holes #4, #6, and #11, while Nick Reyes claimed hole #15. Each hole carried a $110 prize.
The August Ace of the Month tournament will begin with its qualifier on Aug. 3 and conclude with the Ace round on Aug. 17.
