After a year of research, planning and experimentation, Mary Susan Cruz, owner of Susan’s Creations, a company on Tinian that has gained popularity here and abroad for its line of preserved hot pepper and other local souvenir items has finally released five local fragrances that have been getting raves for the past days.
Launched just two days ago, the five fragrances — Breakwater for Men and Breakwater for Women, Black Jack for Men, Mystery, and Chamoritta has captured the local interest of the locals and tourists. All the fragrances carry something from the island, be it the name, the flavor, and the inspiration.
Fragrances
Chamorrita, a sweet-scented fragrance with Ylang-ylang extract and tropical fruit flavors creates a wonderful blend that is ideal for everyday use. Cruz said the Chamoritta has been the instant favorite among early consumers.
The Black Jack for Men flaunts a a citrusy, fruity and watery masculine scent “that promises to brings out the high roller in you.”
“Black Jack for Men” got its name from one of the popular games at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.
Launched in a tall, sleek bottle with a hot pink cap, the Mystery scent is a floral a fruity fragrance that flaunts a flirty smell suitable to meet the preferences of the young and not-so-young waiting for that romantic moment.
Reminded of huge waves splashing on the pristine shores of Tinian, Cruz said the name Breakwater was born. Breakwater is a marriage of pineapple and melon scent fused with black currant and floral extract and is available for men and women.
Breakwater for Men comes in a small round canister with a blue cap sporting an aromatic, refreshing and sporty scent. The Breakwater for Women comes in a similar bottle but with a light pink cap and flaunts a calm, aquatic and flirtatious touch.
Cruz said that five fragrances is already available at the Hangar at the Tinian Airport but will be available in selected stores on Saipan within the month.
She said that within the year, Susan’s Creations will be coming up with seven more island fragrances to complete 12 local scents for the first batch.
The five fragrances are available in 30 ml. bottles at $15 each. Cruz said they will be releasing samplers of 10 ml bottles in the future.
The 10ml and 30ml bottles are ideal for wedding or birthday giveaways, souvenir items, and gifts.
Cruz said that as giveaways, they can customize the perfume bottles.
Since it was launched a couple of days ago, Cruz said they already sold over 300 bottles of the various scents to locals and Japanese tourists on Tinian. Cruz said she already received positive feedback and orders from samplers she had sent to friends in the mainland.
Cruz designed the bottles herself and had them manufactured in the Philippines.
“With these locally-produced fragrances, we hope to put Tinian and the CNMI on the map, and to give the world something beautiful to think about when they hear about Tinian, not only for its role in the bloody World War,” Cruz said.
The Susan’s Creation of fragrances is not only competitive with the leading perfume brands but also affordable to the local market.
